| HD SE Street Performance mufflers Hey guys Does anyone know if the Street Performance mufflers (US only - grrr!) fitted to an '07 EFI sportster would require the addition of a Power Commander III? I'd read something somewhere about the EFI unit being sort of able to detect slight changes with an exhaust close to stock and adjust accordingly. My understanding is that the 50-state legal SP mufflers are pretty close to stock. I could be talking rubbish! ![]() I was considering V&H slip ons but the total cost of all that is £700-£800. However, my wife is off to New York in a couple of weeks and I was getting the SP's for £180 and leaving the air cleaner and EFI stock if possible. After all, I'm not after loads of noise, just a deeper, slightly louder exhaust note and changing the look from stock, and the SP's on their own would be just the ticket. I did ask my dealer but he said UK dealers won't know anything about the SP's and whether they require the same changes that the V&H slip-ons would. This is a new bike and I'm mainly worried about running lean and too hot. I guess sticking the SP's on would also invalidate my warranty with these being US-only parts. Any advice welcome. Thanks ![]() |

| Re: HD SE Street Performance mufflers when i was at Bilys Joint the other week he was putting slip ons onto his new Nightster, he says if its only slip ons your putting on then you wont have to do any other mods. Ps Billys has his own service shop and works on many club members bikes so i would think he knows what hes on about. But at the end of the day its your bike so do what you are happy with.

| Re: HD SE Street Performance mufflers 90% of the time leaving the intake stock a carb'd bike would only need a tweak to the mixture with slip on pipes, so i can only assume that the closed circuit system of the FI would detect the Slip ons and adjust to compensate. some have done this with out issue but some have put on the FI fueller to stop popping on decel. Me i am fitting Short Shots, SE filter and a Fuel Pak to mine

| Re: HD SE Street Performance mufflers That's my ideal setup too, but I don't really have the funds for a full stage 1 yet, plus I don't really want to antagonise the neighbours. If the SP's really are the holy grail of the "fruitier" pipe without other changes then great. If not, back to drooling over the V&H catalogue. |
