| Re: Mysterious Starting Problem Try dismantling the starter motor, check the brushes to see that they are long enough to be useable. Clean up the armature contacts with fine sandpaper (not emery or wet and dry paper) and clear out the grooves between the contacts with a broken hacksaw blade. My guess is that there may be a lot of burnt carbon and crap there created by arcing from all the high amps passing through with the starter motor not spinning fast enough. Might just make the difference.

| Re: Mysterious Starting Problem Had the same problem with my previous bike, would get full power at the battery and hit the starter and there would be a second delay and sometimes it would turn really slowly and sometimes it would fire up, other times it would not and then occassionally it would be ok like nothing was wrong. Went through all the usual earthing problems, solenoids etc, in the end took the starter off and stripped it down, it was so full of carbon from the worn brushes the stator could hardly turn, cleaned out completely, new brushes and never had a problem again !
