Re: Sidecover fell off

I am sure it can be made to fit.

Marks was not a problem to do but not sure of the make.

I am sure he or Bill will let us know.

Re: Sidecover fell off

Blimey, That kicked a discussion off :-)

I'll see if I can get some better clips but in the meantime a cable tie has done the trick.

I coming to understand that if you want comparable finish quality (read that again) then buying a harley is probably not a good idea but there are upsides.. in 25+ years riding, I've never had so many heads turn or admiring glances. I've never had so little hassle from plod. I've never made so much noise.. :-) For me it's about a bit of history, that badge and that engine.

I rode from Manchester to London and back in yesterday. Through all that rain and cr*p and it was better than I thought it's be. Sure at speed it was a bit like riding a bouncy castle but some ACF50 will stop the rot. Even those ultra naff tyres were ok (just). Filtering in the wet around Earls court and dodging the muppets on the M6 are as a good a test as any. Considering these things are built to do 55mph on a wide flat road across the U.S. then it wasn't bad at all.

As "good" as VFR at the same job? Not really.. but I liked it and I feel good today. My mate who came along on his BMW K1200R is in agony...

The missus loves her sporty and she wants to ride it. That means she's getting better at riding it and I feel better about her riding the sportie than the SV650 she had.

My only decision will be whether to fall in completely.. where's that road king brochure ?

Rodney.. The Corbin shield is more like the short version of fibreglass ones found on Electoglides, with the shorter screen height.

It looks good on Corbins website, there some pretty good fibreglass panniers to.

they start the long and expensive road of making it better.
i rest my case.
That's how Harley make their money, they sell a basic looking m/c, give you a catalogue of all the must get and do parts and wait then for the income from all the suckers to pay over the top to do it up! Have you ever seen a standard Harley? They also encourage you to buy the latest clothing and change the bike every year or two, I think it's called capitalism!

Re: Sidecover fell off

Whooa boys, take a breath.... I picked my 1200C last August and by November i had put 7000 miles on the clock (much to the dispair of Robinsons Foundry), Since March I have put another 2000 miles on it...

I use it most days when its not hosing it down to commute on (66 mile round trip), and at weekend I use it to return home from Kent to North Wales... 315 miles one way (again when its not hosing it)... So you think its fugly, expensive screen....? So long as its keeps the weather of my hands and give me a bit of full frontal protection justifies the cost. I have a $60.00 short screen fitted at the moment, but I want my hands protected, I aint young and I dont want to encourage rheumatism....

A little background knowledge of the rider and what he or she expects from a bike would be beneficial before rocketing off into rants.

I put 30,000 on my 02 sportster and still sold it for £3500.00, the previous 00 sportster had close on 26,000

I use my bike but I also care for it, for me it is an achievment to own one, and if I can make suit me I will...

And for all you 'Grunts' who think motorcycling is about minimal comfort and protection, thats down to you. But I will be at next year Dragon Rally in North Wales in January, will you....? and I might even have warm hands....!!!! (LOL)

dude no ranting from me i just dont like it, or at least that pic does it no justice as i think it would look loads better with passing lights on the front, for me a sporty is raw basic motorcycling, if i want comfort i drag the Heritage out of its air-conditioned bubble i am thinking of the quick detach Bat wing for that bike but then i think why not just get a glide then see the cost and think sod that, im all for comfort when out doing bigger distance than say 200mile (3 tanks full on the 1200n ), and yes i will more than likey have warm hands as well as looking for some heated stuff this yr

Re: Sidecover fell off

Chill. Just my opinion. Its fugly.
If you want that sort of look, protection for a long ride get an electroglide.

Back on track I am sure spots can be fitted, anything is possible with a bit of engineering.

It will be a very different looking ride.

Re: Sidecover fell off

Hi Guys, Whe I binned my last sportster in, I had my mind set on a Road King, had the test ride at Robs and just didnt get on with it.

My bike lives in a cycle shelter at the front garden of the house the property in Kent, My house in Wales well forget it, I just have a front garden. If I left it there it would certainly get knicked or worse dissolve before my eyes.

The sportster does it for me... I dont want to stand out Electraglides are just too big and just not me, the handling on my sporty is brilliant, Hayden at GRIZZLY'S gave me stronger front springs and denser oil, I fitted a screaming eagle fork brace and put 11 1/2" progressives on the back, it sits good and sweeps into corners and the handling inspires confidence,....
