Just caught this thread as I've now beeen told to 'Get home form yhe pub'
I also own an 89 sporty and its miles more comfy than the GSX1100 I owned once, or the Monster, or , come to think of it, any of the Triumphs I owned. Mind you my Norton was bloody comfortable when i rode it across Germany in the 80's

Re: Nightster Vibrations..?

After riding a 2001 Sportster for a while, what I would say about the Nightster, regarding vibration, (after taking it out for a test ride) is keep your right leg away from the air filter

I after reviewing the sportster range I am considering purchasing a Nightster for weekend and evening use ( assuming that we are going to get some sunshine this year ! ) The only concern I have at them moment is the amount of vibration, given that I managed to break my neck 10 years ago I'm rather sensitive to excessive vibration. I'm used to and comfortable with riding bandits / CBR etc which are pretty smooth - just give the agricultural nature (sorry!!) of the beast I thoughts I'd see if anyone here has any experience or comments first..

Many thanks in advance..

(oh I'm Bedford -hence posting here!!)

Howdo all..

Just a quick update to say whoooooo I have my new ride! Orange and black Nightster...

I've covered about 300 miles now, in 3 weeks-ish and do not have any real concerns so far re Vibrations, its certainly more 'lumpy' than what I'm used to riding, but that said it certainly has a lot more charter when anythink plastic!

I still think that forwards are going to be on the table later on in the year, and possibly dare I say it a new set of pipes.. ( I can hear Tim now " I told you so" ) but that will have to wait a little bit - unless I managed to get my hands on a lump of cash!

Anyhow, many thanks for the advice etc, hope to catch up with some of you at some point soon!

Mine is, as it's called Sportster 'Sport'

It takes 4 spark plugs, and two of 'em are totally inacessable!

Petrol tank mounting bolts removed, tank lifted up, coils unbolted, ignition switch unbolted and magnetic ended screw-driver needed when you drop one of the tank mounting nuts down the 'back hole'

Vibrations????...................Don't talk to me about vibrations!

But I love it
