Re: Loud pipes

How on earth does a few people breaking the law ruin it for the majority? If you are legal then you have nothing to worry about do you?

For example, I have a legal plate on my bike, legal (standard actually) silencers, legal lights etc etc etc, so I have nothing to fear, yet if I were to put on loud pipes (which a lot of people on here seem to like hence all the 'which pipes are loudest?' threads) then I would be opening myself up to prosecution.

The laws of this land are there for a reason and we cannot pick and choose which ones we choose to bend/break/smash, they are all there to be adhered to.

I don't understand how anyone could ask such a question,

The reason we have such a lot of cctv cameras in this country is because a few people (a minority) break the law to such an extent that the authorities have to take drastic measures to put a stop to it, so now if someone like you “a law abiding citizen” accidentally dropped a piece of litter or stepped slightly out of line you would face an £80.00 on the spot fine, believe me it has happened to people,

It’s the same with speed cameras a minority drive like idiots now we’re all being clobbered,

The police won’t just pick on people with really loud pipes, and leave the likes of you me and others alone they would have to pick on everyone with non standard pipes, and/or number plates,

I’m all for making my bike look and sound good but not to the extent that it would affect other bikers.

Re: Loud pipes

CCTV cameras dont stop crime, all they do is help a bit in the solving of crime. Speed cameras dont punish those who are not speeding. Do you honestly think that speed limits are posted in built up areas for a laugh only for people to break them with impunity? DBSFS, they are there for a reason, maybe you or I cannot see the reason, but it is there nontheless.

If you have legal pipes and the police stop you all you have to do is point out the BS markings or equivalent and you are OK, so what is the problem there?

The problem is made by people like YOU who think you should be able to make as much noise as you like when you like and go as fast as you like where you like, I am sorry but none of us are above the law.

Sorry pal but that's the opposite of me that’s why I commentated on this thread in the first place, Against excessively noisy pipes,

End of story.

Re: Loud pipes

and theres me thinking biking was all about freedom, do gooders there are enough of, how about the powers that be concentrating on more challenging law breakers such as the knife crimes and violent crimes currently hitting the headlines, a few extra decibels on a motorcycle as it passes through your village is hardly the crime of the century, all bikers have different ideals, i wouldnt be trying to impose mine on anybody else and id expect vice versa, lets not try to create sub groups within the biking community eh? we all need to act as one against real agendas like the lunatic in charge of the north wales police force for starters.

c'mon people theres room for all types of us out there surely?

Re: Loud pipes

but it's EASIER and MORE PROFITABLE to harass day to day motorists than actually chase villains, and there are no PC mafias whinging about motorists rights, so you can nab anyone you like without endangering the Chief Constables' future knighthood and directorships of security companies..... easy, innit?

loud pipes are a sure sign that you don't ride, because who can stand to go any distance with open pipes blaring away under them?

Re: Loud pipes

actually some of us have mulitiple bikes and use one to commute every day, loud pipes as well as being a personal choice also save lives, they not only raise awareness of other motorists but pedestrians sheep dogs whatever know u are coming.

there are quite obviousely going to be two schools of thought (at least!) on this on my problem is with other riders trying to "dictate" their point of veiw as the only way

as i said before, we as bikers, need to unite against the powers that be that are trying to take away our freedom in yet more ways not bicker amoungst our selves over differences of opinion

peace
