| Part number required for choke/enricher cable. After removing the carb, cleaning and setting the idle mixture of the wifes 883 I managed to give the choke lever collar a bit to much tightening and broke the brittle plastic collar. I now need to replace the complete cable on a 1991 883. anyone know the part numbers. Incidently the idle mixture was way out with the screw a quarter turn out and presume its been like it since new as I had to drill the blanking plug out, now set it at 1 and a half turns and ticks over great. Engine now has the distinctive 'potato potato' sound instead of 'pota pot splut' ![]() Last edited by cabbie; 19-07-2008 at 06:29 PM. Reason: typo |

| Re: Part number required for choke/enricher cable. 29238-92A That part number is taken from the 1998 XLH parts catalogue. Hope it helps, or the next time your in the dealers ask at the parts counter, or just give 'em a phone.

| Re: Part number required for choke/enricher cable. Does anyone know if Guernsey HD is open on mondays? tried ringing just to make sure that there is no difference to the 1992 model but phone just rings for ever. Seems there is a massive difference in prices for parts, also wanted some tank decals as I bought some on ebay but applied them wrongly by hurrying, they are £46 pound a side and thats at Guernsey. Another eye opener is £268 per standard muffler or £102 for a pair of SE mufflers, unless I'm missing something, I'm also ordering them whilst I'm at it. Many thanks for your help, I would buy a parts catalogue but as i've two sportsters (1992 & 1999) its double the price. Steve |

| Re: Part number required for choke/enricher cable. Don't know what part of Britain you're in, but Leeds HD quoted me just under a tenner for a 04 sporty choke cable last week,(similar problem to yours.) |
