| 4 into a 5 speeder Has anyone upgraded a 4 speed gearbox into a 5 speed ? Iv got a 1988/89 1200cc Sportster that im gonna chop this winter & i want another gear. Is this possible ? ![]()

I found this on another site .....if it helps! A 5 speed box will not fit in a 4 speed motor. The 5 speed engine is apparently 0.5" wider. You can fit a 5 speed "frame mount" engine into your frame, but the poster says that you'd have to re-locate your side stand mount! trans question - The Sportster and Buell Motorcycle Forum Cheers DD
