| Re: MOT Exhaust Failed What year is the Sportster..........what area are you from? If you are local to me and have a 04 or younger I've got a set of standard silencers you could borrow, your other option is look on ebay as you always see them for sale on there. |

| Re: MOT Exhaust Failed I have a 2005 1200C with SE11s on and mine passed the MOT with these bolted into the rear of the pipes on the bolt at the rear. I made them out of an old metal drawer runner. They block off most of the straight thru and actually improve low speed torque. ![]()

| Re: MOT Exhaust Failed Hi Alan; when you say the bike failed and needs original pipes, what did the tester actually say? Was it that it was, in his opinion, too noisy? Did he say that the pipes are stamped 'Off Road Use Only'? Did he say that you must have the original exhaust? The reason he gave is crucial to getting his approval for a re-test, or, he might have given an inappropriate reason for failure, which would have been grounds to argue the issue, although testers nowadays are well trained and value their licences highly. So you really need to know exactly what he wants to see... Cheers, Pete.

| Re: MOT Exhaust Failed +1 Ask around where other Harley's are taken. The garage where I took mine for it's first test last year looks like it's just for cars but the tester explained to me it's just to his ears that pass or fail and he liked what he heard. Ask around locally. Best of luck. Let us know what happens. ![]()

| Re: MOT Exhaust Failed It's also worth finding out where your local VMCC section take theirs. Any MOT tester who deals with old British bikes should have no problems with Harleys. I'd also agree with Pete's comments; the lack of original mufflers is not in itself a reason for failure.

| Re: MOT Exhaust Failed Quote:
the only way you are now getting the bike thru the MOT is with stock pipes at the orginal test station or silver tape over the writing and a new MOT at a different station as a MOT'er is not allowed to remove anything to see what is underneath, underhand i know but cheaper unless you can find some on the wonderful world wide web.
