Have used the Sundowner for a few years now and it makes a great difference.

The forward controls also make a difference in comfort and I also have a QD screen for really long journeys.

The other great comfort aid for me was the addition of mini apes.

Mine is a 1200R but I added the Custom tank for longer range.

my custom has forward contorls as standard, rode mid pegs before and can confirm forwards are defo more comfy, esp if you have longer legs..mines also got a change of bars from normal flattish to riser bars and the position is spot on

Comfort is a very personal thing. I have the pillow seat which is the softest, largest seat you can get.

I added 4 1/4 inch pull back risers.

I don't find forwards comfortable so kept the mids.

Also stiffer rear shocks help the ride from bottoming out.

Re: making it comfier

HI, i had the sundowner pillow seat and whilst it is soft the shape of the seat meant that the bit that rises up to the pillion was pressing into the bottom of my spine and gave my allsorts of grief, bought a very cheap le pera bare bones for the shape and had it recovered with an extra 1" of soft foam, resulting in a nice firm but soft ride and looks to suit.

Re: making it comfier

I would consider adjustable highway pegs as a cheaper option over forwards will also give you two riding positions for the longer journeys. being 6'1" tall i always found that forward controls really were not forward enough so did not really serve all that much of a purpose.

mini 10" apes also make it very comfortable.

there are all sorts of clip on screens if you feel the need, make life a whole lot easier for long runs, personally i don't like the look but i still have one for the longer journeys, foolish to be any more uncomfortable than you have to be.

Re: making it comfier

I've gone for mini-apes for a more comfy riding position & Progresive shocks & a sundowner seat to make things more comfy for my pillion. The standarsd seat & shocks were fine for solo riding but crap with a passenger.
