This is a real question as the figures I have used are just illustrations.
Thats all well and good Mark, but stock filters wont let the motor pull the amount of air they are capable of pulling.
Stock motors are set to deal with noise and exhaust emissions, when you change the filter and the mixture along with the exhaust you are just letting the motor run at its best. As you say they aint performance motors but they need to breath to get the most out of them.
The intake noise is a big factor as far as noise emissions are concerned, they have to pass a noise test at a specific drive by speed thats what the new exhaust valve on latter models is about, they have tightened the noise limits up recently hence ex valve as well as air induction restrictions.
But as has been said, each to his own.

Re: Air Filter

Totally agree scotty, the stock filter is pants, was wondering more about the various after market solutions.
Does anyone have any figures for air flow rates on XL 's?

Re: Air Filter

Has anyone successfully fitted the following on an 07 efi Sportster.

KN2939 (KN3929 cant remember which is correct p/nos.) 1200C sportster filter this is specifically a 1200c filter.

V&H fulepak

V&H Slip on with quiete baffles....

Ive taken the fuelpak off and running with the slip on's and filter, and it still runs like pig, the bike idles ok but under any kind of load it farts and bangs all over the place...

It feels like it is sucking too much air in, would setting up on dyna clear this problem? And is there anyone in the South East Tunbridge Wells / Tonbridge or Maidstone area...?

Re: Air Filter

dont know is this is anything (V&H Fuel Pack setting for Big Shot Staggers - Cycle Chat - Motorcycle Chat for Harley Davidson & V-Twin Motorcycle Enthusiasts) but i saw this on the net and thought of you. what remap did you do? if you need the remapping codes you can get them from ::: FUELPAKFI.COM - YOU WANT FUEL MANAGEMENT. YOU NEED FUELPAK. ::: and just enter your bike details.

Cheers all, and bring on that sun shine.

Have a look here, personally I'd go with K & N, SE are in my opinion overpriced and garbage, but like I said just my opinion, have a read here:-
