If there is no fault with the starter, you need to see if the valves are opening.

Do you have a fuelpak fitted, I had the same problem mine turned out to be the earth on the engine was loose, the fuelpak is very sensitive to that..

We're going off at a tangent here.

Hopefuly he's taken the starter off because it won't "turn over",not because it won't start.
Been no mention of testing cranking voltage so hope now it's in pieces that it is the starter.

i would have hoped the basics like 'are the terninals tight' and 'is the battery fully charged' would be taken as read! although if your like me your mind instantly goes blank for a few moments

warden... did u ever hear it running prior to buying?...still stick with my idea if starter checks out ok...the pistons are hitting the plugs
