Re: K&N Filter purchased......Don't fit..?

What filter is it replacing, ie Original equipment, with a shaped OEM plastic back box or a SE Kit filter ie with a flat back plate?

Have a read through and post a picture of your filter set-up with the cover removed and I may be able to help!
Spot on Dick. That link is the exact problem I have. My filter is a 29261-95. So is there anyway I can fit this with my back plate or do I need to source the HD-1396 direct replacement?

By the way, thanks for all your help guys.

It is the original HD backplate with HD filter.

Can't believe that K&N can advertise this as a direct fit when it is certainly not

Re: K&N Filter purchased......Don't fit..?

I had the same problem a year ago with my 2000 53C

I phoned K&N and explained that my original was sort of triangular in shape where the replacement was more oval.

And you're right - all the holes in the wrong place - no threaded inserts - totally wrong.

They apologised and I returned it for a full refund.

Then I bought the proper HD part off ebay from someone who bought one and never fitted it.

Good luck
