| 4 Speed tranny oil ?
Before anyone stops reading because it's another thread about oil - I have a very specific question: Since the demise of SportTrans I've always run 20/50 in my primary/transmission on mu 01 Sportster - no problems. I have also just acquired a very low-mileage 1989 Sportster. Given that it is an old fashioned 4 speed box - does the same advice hold good ? By the way the reason I am asking the question is that it currently shifts like a pig - going through the previous owners' paperwork it appears from the last service report that they put 10/40 in the tranny - I'm hoping that a heavier oil will fix the problem. I run a 1986 four speed XLH 1100 Sporty and I now use the genuine Formula+ oil and have never had a problem. It is very heavy changing gear, especially 1st to 2nd but no problems.
