| Just fitted Vance & Hines slip ons. WOW!!!!!!!
Bought this off a guy who had it fitted for 3 days then changed to the quiet baffles then after 4 days bought a screaming eagle system as it was too loud for him. I thought that's the one I want!! Vance & Hines: Performance Exhaust Systems Fitted it tonight. Had to shave a 13mm spanner thinner to get in then out again once tight in the silencer bracket for the retaining nut (masking tape on the back of the nut on the spanner helps get it started). Tips I found was to slightly loosen the headers from the head to get a little movement and use copper slip in fitting them back on as it helps the final positioning. A couple of zip ties keeps the rear pipe lower heat shield in place till the worm drive clips take over then snip and pull em out. Apart from that a couple of hours and they were done. Also nip everything up hand tight first then once happy with it all go round tighning it all up. Sucking eggs to most I know but if someone saves 1/2 hour then ..... With the quiet baffles they sound absolutely awesome. I don't think I'd ever want to put the loud ones in. Low burble with a distinct 'Harley' sound and at WOT they sound the mutts nuts. Would reccomend these as at 1/2 throttle and cruise they can be surprisingly quiet as well. All in all a nice evening's work and a great blast up the high street! |

Did you have to fit the fuelpak or different filter?

Theer good on a F/Boy too. Big sucker and fuel pack should be ya next mod. I was told if ya change pipes only it will be o/k to leave the fueling as standard and with the so call quiet bafs ya get a bit of back pressure with the nice deeper sound |

I was told by the seller and an independent Harley owner that the stock fueling should be able to cope with the pipes due to the tolerances built into the EFI. I will get a K&N in the near future so a fuel pack may be needed then. I must say apart from the welcome noise there is also a noticable mid range torque improvement from much lower down in the rpm's than I thought I would get. It certainly accellerates quicker than before. re the gaskets, Yep complete PITA. Thats where the copper slip comes in handy for final placement. A rubber mallet didn't work so I used long bolts and slowly pulled the muffler onto the balance tube then swapped them one at a time to shorter bolts. Can you not use the gaskets from the stock pipes. I cut the 'sides' off the gaskets and left the 'seat and it's not leaking at all. I'm glad I didn't fit the loud baffles as these are bang on. Traffic notices me sooner and less idiots try and beat me onto a roundabout after a quick clutch dip and rev. |
