| My First Harley
Hi, I'm 47, working and having one of my many midlife crises. I stopped riding bikes when I was about 27. A guy I work with brought in his 2000 883 Sportster to work the other week and I said to him (not thinking anything of it) if you ever want to sell it, let me know. Two weeks later, he did and now I'm the proud owner of a nearly 10 year old bike that has never seen the rain, just over 4000 miles on the clock, has the loudest set of pipes I have ever heard (Screaming Eagles) and many extra bits of chrome. I love the bike (not sure my neighbors feel the same) and really want to embrace the whole Harley biker thing. I live in SE London (am straight) and looking for some people to hang out with etc. I hope this doesn't sound like a lonely hearts thing cos it's not. Just looking for some like minded people who can show me the way. Paul |

Hiya Paul Welcome to the forum. I started with a 2000 53c too - after a 30 year layoff from bikes. A great little bike and a good introduction to Harleys. Don't be surprised if you feel the urge to keep buying it little shiney gifts - its a common problem but it keeps Ebay in business ![]() See you at the Ace sometime soon. Kev

Thanks for the welcome guys, appreciate it. Sorry for the 'straight' comment, I've been getting a lot of ribbing about leather chaps etc. since I got the bike. As soon as I can get my head round this website, I'll try and hook up with some of the meets. |

Bloke at work came out with "How embarrasing" when I said I had bought a 1200 sportster. Yea whatever. I'm sure parked up next to his R1 we all know what most people would look at first. Even when I offered him a race he laughed it off. The bike may be quicker but perhaps he isn't ..... How embarrasing!! I'm new to this forum too. Seems easy enough to navigate and has a lot of good info that saves asking same ole same ole Q's if you read through. |
