Re: painful seat

ditch the forward controls and put the standard ones back on, so you can take some of your weight on your legs and move around a bit, works wonders.

same goes for the apes, get some lower bars

Look at an original 'pogo seat' Big Twin and notice the difference in riding position.... I always kept the buddy seat for my shovelhead for the same reason.

The voice of sanity! If forward controls and high bars were anything other than a styling exercise, then it would not just be H-D riders using them.

Re: painful seat

What year is your Sportster?

I have 2 absolutely brand new never been on a bike custom solo seats made by Harley Seats (Barr Industries of America).

I had them made fro my my 07 sportster so I guess any model with the 'modern' tank these seats will fit.

They are made of a foam used in the space shuttle seats they are very thin and very comfortable, I have the third on my bike now and rode 300 miles without to much discomfort...

I was going to ebay them but if you are interested let me know...

One is plain like a stock seat

Second has a Willie G Skull emblem stitched into the rear of the seat squab and its about 4-5" in diameter....

8st 10 is truly light weight, you make me sound like a right lardy at 12st 2

Thanks OrangeR, shocks now on lowest setting and ride is a little softer, tho still think I'm gonna have to change the seat eventually as I can't get comfy on it at all - guess I need to plump my rump up on more burgers or something!

Happy riding and thanx again

Anytime Mate

I once tried a 'low' solo seat on my bike. It only stayed on for a week or so. Bad news on the rear end!

I now have a Mustang Fastback dual seat and that's really good, although as already pointed out it's not cheap. I never take a passenger but went for the dual as I can move around, forward and back, which you can't really do on a solo seat. The ability to move around really helps keeping my rear end sweet.

Cheers,

OR.......
