The XR1200 is a great bike. Handles beautifully. Stable. Fast. Great brakes. Better in ever way than the Nightster.

But a bit too perfect and sanitary for me. I vastly preferred the low and narrow Nightster though recognising the technical superiority of the new bike.

And the softail is completely different. Great bike to relax on. Ride slow. Get in the flow. If that's what Uggy's after from his previous Fatboys, neither the Nightster or XR1200 will hit the spot.

They're just too..... thin.....
Mike, if it helps, I've got a Softail too and have owned one, or should i say several continuously for the last 20 years.
Dont get me wrong here, i love the Softail but the XR is the most fun i've had on a Harley.
All I'm saying is test ride the XR before he commits to buy the Nightster, if its the Harley looks thing he's after he is gonna go for the Nightster but if its A road fun thing he wants its gotta be the XR.

Re: Nightster

Thanks guys for your feedback. Scotty, I currently ride a Triumph Speed Triple and to be honest that provides all the A road fun I might need and some, so the XR1200 is a bit too similar and that's not what I want now!. I would ideally like to go back to a softail, but unfortunately finances dictate a wee bit here hence the reason I am considering a Sportster. Doesn't have to be a nightster, I just like the look of it.

Re: Nightster

I started with a Low Rider, ZX6R.......... to Fat Boy to Nightster & the Nightster is the most fun I've had!! Getting my Stage one done now & having air horns fitted.......my only gripe is the tiny tank - no range, still, it's a blast to ride!!
