QUICK QUESTION, is it a 30 amp or a 40 amp, mine dosent say, but looking online there are 2

ok, its not the relay, the battery reads 13v so its not that (plus ive jumped it from the car) the wiring is all fine and ive fitted an extra earth, so!! any other ideas before i start taking the bike apart.?

Dave, I had exactly the same problem recently. As GRB says check your battery more closely. Kiwidave gave me a very good tip to check that the battery is holding the charge under load-

put your voltage meter on the battery with everything off and then switch on the ignition and lights, now see what happens to the reading. My battery was reading a healthy 12.75 V with the ignition off but when switched on the reading quickly dropped off a cliff.

Just because the bike will start off a jump in no way proves that the battery is OK but it does indicate that your starting system is working when connected to a healthy battery.

Because I was only checking the battery voltage when the ignition was off I wasted a lot of time trying to find the problem elsewhere

wont even turn over on a jump buddy, just clunks in the primary like the dog is trying to engage but dont, ill have another look a the battery , but i may have to take of the primary just to see what is happening when i hit the go button

stripped down the starter befor ei parted with any pennies, it was the seloniod, its fooked, harley do a kit to fix and i fittted new bushes at the same time, the old girl is alive!!!!!!!!!

£40 quid inc gasket and oil ;) oh and a week at the workbench rofl
