No - I don't either. I think originally they had a siamesed exhaust as well. When they were introduced, nobody bought them because they didn't look like what a sporty should!

I'm not the only one then. Sporties were suppossed to be sort of stripped to the bone basics.
Must admit tho' that my sporty had panniers, dual seat, carrier and sissy bar, eventually a screen. 'Cos it was all black tho', it seemed to fit.
If the panniers had been the same colour, it may have looked a bit better.

I'm fairly sure the Sportster XLCH was introduced some time after the XL/XLH style displayed by this bike, which if you look past the gruesome green is not dissimilar in style to British bikes of that era, with a bench seat and larger tank. The Sportster subsequently achieved such popularity that this earlier style was dropped. We now have to make do with a multitude of variations on the Sportster theme with peanut tank, which frankly is a loss.

This is a more 'normal' version of the green godess!
