Seems very fast rate of wear. I have a 19" front on Sporty with plenty of meat on it. The sooner it wears out the sooner I can get an Avon on.
Front on RK is wearing rather quickly but that is a tyre where problems have been reported.

Re: Tyre Help

Cheers Tony - Of course I don't know the history of the bike before I bought it but the bike is almost mint for the year so it doesn't look like it's had any stick. As I say, the bike is just about to turn over 6000 miles and the front 21" is in places borderline 1 mil tread.

Well.... I say I don't know the history, I mean the rider history, sorry. The bike did it's first 3000 miles from new in Carson City, Nevada, US. Before being imported over here and being made UK legal (the lights). I bought the bike with just over 5000 on the clock. I have the original US certificate of ownership, which is something to keep of course. I bought the bike from a member of this club who shall remain nameless.

Cheers

Re: Tyre Help

My rear Dunflop on my Sportster was changed at about 12,000 odd miles when worn out, for an Avon RoadRider.
The Front Hd Dunflop on my Sporter had done 15,000 miles and still had the legal tread although just barely, when the Dunflop started to show the odd wee cracks inside the tread cavity I decided to change that to an Avon RoadRider tyre to compliment the rear.

Re: Tyre Help

One word Commander Zero - SHOCKED! 15000 from a front and I have 6000!! W.T.F! I'm proper puzzled now - Is this the norm or an extreme exception?

Thanks

Re: Tyre Help

my front h-d dunlop managed 10,000 miles....ridden like a loon lol...i can well imagine 15000 is feasable riding steady...tim the previous owners could have run with low pressures which would seriously cut into mileage acheived m8..
