Re: Tyre Help

A mate of mine has just been down who has ridden sports bikes for a good number of years. He reckons I'm being overcautious and there may well be quite a few thousand left on the tyre. I'll get that opinion seconded with someone else though before I make my mind up. I really should have done that before posting this thread but I've learned a lot about my options and which tyres are best so it was still worth posting.

Thanks to Tony, Ben and Lee for the PM's, I've saved the numbers as I may yet still need them or will one day for sure.

Thanks
Hills

Re: Tyre Help

Another reason for your particularly worn front Dunlop is that the "good" original was perhaps changed for a part worn one before it was sold/imported..Just another possability, I'd get expert advice on the tyre if your not sure and if it's duff get a new one fitted then take it from there and enjoy what's left of our summer.

Re: Tyre Help

Thanks for the PM Commander Zero

I might take a ride through to Leeds Harley or St Leger Harley and ask one of the fitters to take a look and give their opinion.

Cheers

Re: Tyre Help

You stated it had 1mm left on it,be aware that 1mm is the legal limit though for some reason the wear indicators are often at 0,8mm.
Apart from having the front end wash out landing you on your arse plus the bill to repair,if you get checked then below 1mm is £60 and 3 points.
If in any doubt, measure it with depth guage or vernier.
If it was my call I'd change it,I don't bounce like I used to.

Re: Tyre Help

Cheers for the advice Dave, noted I've done the bouncing bit already, I'm a fully paid up member of that club, not on a Harley yet though touch wood.
