Tyre Help

Hey all

I've just rang St Leger Harley (main stealer) for a quote for a new 21" front tyre fitted on my Sporty. I almost dropped through the floor when quoted £168.00!!! This tyre still just about has a mil of tread left on it but I wanted to get the tyre changed while the weather was good and not wait until the M.O.T in January.

Does anyone know anywhere in west Yorkshire that may be cheaper but still do a good and careful job? I'm in Castleford.

Many Thanks
Hills

Re: Tyre Help

Am I right in thinking that from a HD dealer you would get a Dunlop?

Most people reckon the Avon Venom is better. Google it, you may find it's cheaper aswell.

Re: Tyre Help

To be honest Bilbo we didn't get that far I politely cut the conversation short so I'm not sure what tyre they had in mind at that price unfortunately. The tyre I have on now is still the factory H-D Dunlop.

I forgot to mention in my original post, they were willing to knock £35 off the price if I fetch the front wheel to them but I'm not sure what this involves, I'm still very much learning when it comes to this bike.

Re: Tyre Help

How's your back tyre? I'm not a fan of changing one by itself, although others may disagree.

Re: Tyre Help

The back tyre has a lot of meat left on it, far too much tread to think of changing it.

Cheers

Re: Tyre Help

For 15 years or more I have used SMD at Leigh Lancs. Maybe a bit far for you but a lot cheaper. I too would put on an Avon. Cheaper and better in the wet.

Re: Tyre Help

Personally I would go to Venoms.

Re: Tyre Help

Thanks Tony - A bit far for me but I'll go for an Avon Thanks.

Cheers for the link Simon, big saving there but would still need it fitting, all worth considering though...

Re: Tyre Help

Would I be OK with the factory Dunlop rear that's on now and a new venom front?
