Unhappy Re: At last! new apes fitted!

Hope you don't bump into anything - can't see you going over the bars (you might leave something vital on the way through though)

Well you won’t have to worry about that being nicked, and judging by the attitude it’s gonna have to be a prince albert next. Talk about nailing your colour to the mast, go for it, very Tidy.

Re: At last! new apes fitted!

They're the standard risers that came with the 03 custom. I must admit that they're fugly, but hey ho one thing at a time, and they do hide all the wire connections inside them which was very convenient!
Having been out on the bike today I found it very comfortable and fairly steady even at high-ish speeds.
I do agree with a previous post that the crash bars have to go but I may just chop 'em about a bit so I don't lose the cruise pegs fitted to them as they are indispensible on any longish journey as any tall chap or chapess will tell you, as I've said, one thing at a time.
One thing though, the vibration in the mirrors and the hand grips has been completely eradicated, I thought it would've been worse!

I don't see a problem with neither the Apes nor the engine bars at all, as has now been said, it's all about what you want, it's your bike, but move the indicators to the forks, lol. Harleys are all about being different in my opinion, you achieved that. Good on yer.

Got all the wires hidden inside the tubes and put braided brake hose on at the same time. pinned the risers to stop the bars chucking me off under heavy braking.
I must like to say at this point that without Jerry at Sledgehammer Customs in Darlington, none of this would have been possible as I'm a complete numnuts when it comes to all this sort of thing, he started at 10am and didn't finish till 10pm without stopping for lunch or anything what a star! big thanks fella! you deserve to do well in your new adventure
Saving up now for next project. Possibly wide glide kit or springer front end (can't make up my mind yet) and stainless fasteners all round!
i like em but i would move the turn signals on to the forks...j m o.
