Re: Wobble at speed

I am pretty sure that it is not a confidence issue, I run a shovel FXWG with 18" apes and also a Evo Fatboy with beach bars and i have no issue travelling 15mph faster on the same road!!

Re: Wobble at speed

Does the bike feel as though it wants to run on any overbanding as well, almost like a tramlining effect?

If it is, that's what mine felt like with the original Dunlops. Changed the tyres to Metzelers ME 880, what a world of a difference. Here's a link to the Metzeler website.

Re: Wobble at speed

I don't have any great experience with Dunlops, run Avons on my bikes so am used to them only really.

It does not feel like tram lining in the roads, it is something very different. it feels like a wobble as if i were moving the handlebars/ steering a tiny amount back and forth, which gets progressively worse, this gets better immediately that the throttle is closed. It really doesn't happen with the other bikes.

I will try the ideas so far and hopefully that will be the reason!

many thanks every one

Re: Wobble at speed

What setting are the rear shocks on? You might want to put them onto the stiffest setting and see if it still happens.

Simon,

the rear rides almost like a rigid, you don't want to be licking your lips when you hit a bump otherwise you may bite your tongue off

Re: Wobble at speed

No worries. I would still alter the rear suspension one way or the other to see if it improves or exagerates the problem.

Re: Wobble at speed

maybe you're running to stiff a set up and it's not got enough give to get an effective level of grip down

have you tried running the stiffer front springs with a lighter oil or softer springs and the stiffer oil and knocking the back a notch ?

Re: Wobble at speed

Another source for your problem not yet mentioned may well be the spokes,
assuming your bike is running them?
