Re: fatboy wheels

Rear will fit, just turn it round. If it has a tyre on don't forget to turn it around.

Unless you have a custom front end you are out of luck with the front.

No stock Harley front end will accept it.

Re: fatboy wheels

Also, watch out in high winds with a light sportster and a solid wheel, it could be inviting an interesting experience

Re: fatboy wheels

Didn't Dantheman have a Sporty with Fatboy wheels front and rear Tam?
Seem to remember photos a few years back, but you know what my memory's like. Don't know what front end he might have had on it.......

Re: fatboy wheels

A mate of mine has done the conversion on his Sportster, front and rear. He used Fat Boy forks and had some yokes made up to fit. The rear end was a straight forward swap.

But, do check the bolts you use on the rear wheel. The brake and pulley are on the opposite sides so do make sure you used the right bolts and torque settings.

Re: fatboy wheels

I done this on my 91 Sportster, as everyone says the rear is a doddle just a swap around, you may have to change the bearing if the wheels are a late type as i think they have bigger spindles on the lat Fatboy but not 100% sure on that.

I fitted a wide set of trees to my Sportster and the front was quite easy as well, i just had to get two new spacers made to get spacing for wheel and disc inline.

I have some pictures still i think. Not sure how far back you can go on posts but i did write up a fair bit about it.
I found i had to play with tyre pressures a bit as the Fatboy is mych heavier that a sportster and with std tyre pressure i got a very nervous bike.
