Corbin Classic Solo seat

Has anyone here fitted a Corbin 'Classic' Solo seat on a Sportie?

I love the look of the thing and hope it will be a marked improvement on the original seat comfort wise.

I saw one on eBay last week that I forgot to bid on and it went for £62

There are two dealers in the UK but they want £269, which is a little off putting because they are that in dollars on the Corbin site.

Enough of my waffle, I guess I'm asking if they're worth the money, comfortable, and if anyone knows of a cheaper way of buying or of someone who has a good second hand one for sale.

I have a 2001 883 XLH.

Re: Corbin Classic Solo seat

Just FYI. Can’t comment on comfort, but watch out for import duty if you do go stateside, I bought a fat touring seat for my road king last year thinking I was clever buying a seat in dollars against the £ price here…..the damn thing didn’t turn up but a bill from customs and excise did, and the seat came 2 weeks later. I did save about 15% but the stress and hassle was hardly worth it, all the best.

Yep, did the same thing myself with a HD leather jacket. Again it was still cheaper but added another 75 quid to the deal. I don't think I will going that route on even a solo seat.

I have bought lots of parts from the US, yes you do get caught for import duty sometimes but it always works out cheaper.
If you buy say mid december there will be a shed load of other imports coming in from all over the world, customs get inundated and things get through. I had a set of Bassani pipes come through with no duty, nice little prezzy for me lol.
I know other have had trouble importing, but touch would i never have, just stick to reputable companies.

Re: Corbin Classic Solo seat

If you jion the club there are suppliers here in the UK that will give you 10% discount.

With regard to importing yourself from the States (apart from import duty, VAT and customs clearance fees) don't forget that if you have any problems with the item you will be more than likely responsible for the return carriage fees at which point you are in negative on the savings front.

Not everyone charges £ for $ but it's worth remembering that the exchange rate isn't that good, it costs to ship the stuff, and there is no (legal) way of avoiding import duty and VAT.

Corbin seats? You'll either love it or hate it.

Corbin seats, just like any other seat is all a matter of personal comfort. What one person finds comfortable, another person may not. Personally, I dont like Corbin seats.
