Re: Roadking tyres

I run them and love them,
the one and only downside is they wear quickly

Re: Roadking tyres

Me yes born....again....NOT! ........... riding since 1968 >>>See Here...LOL

Not had a break but not only do I find Metzler's, Continentals and Avon's better I find them cheaper for wide white walls.

They MAY be better now but I personally would not bother trying them out again if I had to buy a new set.

BUT I would wear them out using them if I bought a new bike like I did back in '03.

As they say all to their own and how they feel when riding and whatever you are comfortable with, that's my motto, but when asked the question I just say what I use and read the previous threads.

Re: Roadking tyres

Lee

The standard HD tyres are designed for American appliccian hence they are a relatively hard compound to give reasobnable wear when doing thousand of miles in hot conditions (110°F +) , not the wet twisties like in the UK. I switched from D/lop to Venoms and the difference in sure footedness is palpable! The d/lops would twitch on white lines and manholes which resulted in ridges in the saddle that remained long after I got off the bike.

Bridgestone tyres?

Hello

Time has come to think about changing my tyres on my 2006 streetbob. Been running a Metz Marathon on the rear which has only lasted 4k miles, the one on the front (a lasertec) has been on for a further 3k mile and seems to be holding up.

Found the lasertecs okay, although they only last about 5k miles on the rear.

So, considering other tyres. Has anyone used Bridgestone tyres (i.e. the BT-020 or newer 021) on the rear and whatever the equiv is on the front?

If so, would be interested in your experiences

Cheers, Roy

Re: Bridgestone tyres?

There are a lot of tyre questions on the forum. The long and the short of it is they are ALL the same as far as rating goes. This that n the other dont really matter as long as a tyre is rated to suitability - ie V/H or whatever. The fact that someone says this is better than that shouldnt really be an influnece on the road. Tyres are manufactured to a roadholding spec. Anything else is just personal prefernce or bollocks. Tyres are rated for their ability to handle speed/conditions...........the pattern cut into that rating dosent matter a fuck. So stop ranting about tyres because it does my nut. As far as how long thet last - riding style does it every time! NOT a go at you Roy - only at the same type of question all the time...............

Re: Bridgestone tyres?

Tony, thanks for your input

I do appreciate there is a standard, or set of standards, against which tyres are built and how long they last largely depends on the number of 'donuts you burn a week', etc etc. However, having said that I have noticed with cars and bikes that some tyres with the same compound mix may last or grip (or both) than others. For example, Lasertecs that I have used up to now on my streetbob have lasted about 1000 miles more than the Metz so-called Marathon (poor choice of name if you ask me). They are both dual compound etc. I change my tyres every 3 to 4 months, so this kind of difference makes a difference. The HD standard Dunlops were just poor on every count, they did not grip or last.

So, my question is simply in looking at other dual compunds than Metz - has anyone any experience with Bridgstone B-thingies. If so, can you let me know. Havn't seen any posts on Bridgestones unless I am not searching correctly ...

Over and out

Re: Bridgestone tyres?

hello Roy
i think the general conclusion with tyres is most use Avon venom's for Dyna's
and sportys and metz on kings and dressers
as Tony said it riding style that gives mileage ie smoothness
i have run Venoms for along time now and average 9000-1000mls out of a back
tyre and more out of a front
this is only my opinion you pays your money and take a chance
