Re: Ground anchor

Afternoon

Yes, got one stuck to the garage floor. Have a look at the Ride Magazine's web page. Their always testing and rating this sort of thing.

Re: Ground anchor

I have a Kryptonite Stronghold Ground Anchor in my garage, its "Gold Sold Secure".
The shackle folds down so its not too high when not in use.
3 Rawl bolts hold it secure. The allen heads of the bolts securing it have a ball bearing hammered in when fitted so they cannot be drilled out.

Re: Ground anchor

Fit one and use it, but don't tell your insurance company....even if you always use it. All you'll get from them is about a tenner discount off your premium. If by any chance you forget to use it and your bike gets nicked....then you haven't fulfilled your part of the contract, and that is reason enough for them not pay you a penny.

I was told this by the very nice man at HD Insurance Services, and it's bound to be the same with all companies.

The first thing they'll look for when they come to see you is a busted ground anchor, and if you just happened to forget to use it.....not covered.

This applies to security chains too, use them but don't tell them, it's not worth the discount for them to know.

Re: Ground anchor

Hi Veggie i fitted a U anchor which is galvanised and set on a 12" post. It requires drilling/digging a 12" square hole in your concrete garage floor and then filling it again with concrete. I think that it is the best i could have done and here it is. I like it because it is flush with the floor and takes the biggest chain.
