Apehangers

Hi, would anyone have any idea where I could go to that sells apehangers?. Up until now I've been running with 40in beach bars for the last 5 years and looking for a change.
I could just go ahead and buy off the internet, but that could turn out to be an expensive mistake if they turned out wrong , so I could do with seeing some up close, maybe speak to someone who has them, looking to go for 16in, I live in Derby so any ideas/advice would be welcome, cheers.

Re: Apehangers

Although it's via the internet, Ali at V Twin Mania is very helpful. Give him a call, that's who i got my apes and cables from at a very reasonable price too.

We pride ourelves in being a "no bullshit" supplier. Join the club and get a 10% discount and impartial advice.

This is for free - 16" apes need pinning to the risers - why? Do an emergency stop without and I hope you have a great dentist!!

Re: Apehangers

If you're in Derby you could do worse than drop in to our East Mids monthly meet.

Region 10, East Midlands: 1st Sunday of every month at:Mr Grundy's Tavern Georgian House Hotel Ashbourne Road DerbyDE22 3AD......from 7:30pm ish

Couple of them run apes on their bikes, they'll be able to give you the right gen.

Re: Apehangers

Right on Kev. Talk to Eddie, longstanding club member, at the East Mids club night. He has run 16 (or is it 18in) apes on his Softail for about 15 years, and he even got them made locally. I got a pair at the same time as Eddie bulk-bought. He will tell you straight - tell him we sent you!

Re: Apehangers

12 1/2" Chubby 'Wild Ones' on my Road King, there is nothing better in my opinion. Expensive, but what aint.

Some thing worth remembering when fitting bars like this is to get the right pull back so you can comfortably reach them. You can always angle them back until they feel right, but I'm a believer that high bars like apes should follow the line of the forks to look right.....that's only my preference.

Apparently the maximum height is so that your arms are just under your shoulder height and not above......something to do with blood circulation....that's what I was told anyway.

Brian.
