Toolkit?

Sorry if this is a stupid question - i've twirled a few spanners on it but I haven't been all over the bike yet (FLTHCUI).
I'm off to Slovenia next month so what would you have in your toolkit for a 2000 mile trip?
Cheers
Steve

Re: Toolkit?

Have you the standard tool kit in the Tour-Pac?
My Ultra has an excellent tool kit.

I now carry a an emergency tubeless puncture repair kit like this after seeing it used when we were leaving Bute last year. Back on the road in 5 minutes.

Thanks Baza - I actually reckon I have everything I could ever need in the garage already , it was just a question of which tools are useful on an Evo on the road , and whether any fasteners on the bike are a strange size so I really ought to have the removal tool with me.....

Re: Toolkit?

Have the bike serviced before you go, replace anything that will wear out within 1,000 miles of getting back (pads, tyres, plugs). After that the major things that will stop play will be punctures and lights.

I use a tyre plugger kit and a Slime compressor which has always got me back on the road in minutes.

Try replacing all the bulbs on the bike and make sure you have the tools to do that, plus a head torch as it will be dark when you do it!

After that a decent recovery card should cover it

Re: Toolkit?

When i do spain in september i will be taking puncture repair kit as mentioned, a basic set of allen keys, a basic socket set 3/8 drive with extensions, 3 and 6 inch, basic two scredrivers, one crosshead, one not, a set of dual end spanners and some larger thin ones for bolts i think may work loose and are hard to get to, certain torx bits etc. I don't think there is a definative list, just what you think in terms of what you know about YOUR bike?

Re: Toolkit?

Rema TipTop puncture repair kit
Adjustable spanner
Common UNC spanners
1/4 drive ratchet & common sockets
UNC allen keys (and metric too) in fold up kits
Torx keys (fold up kit)
PZ2 crosshead & flathead screwdriver
12 point 3/8 socket (for rear caliper brake pad pins)
Long thick piece of wire with 12v cigarette socket on the end (useful for power/charging phone etc in the tent or can be chopped up and used to jump start bike in lieu of proper jump leads)
Leatherman type multitool / pliers
Mini fuses
Common relays (white and black)
Bulbs: indicator & headlamp (I have LED tail lights)

Had call to use the wire to jump start a mates Dyna when his rectifier wiring broke, repaired wiring and jump started 60 miles and 1 hour from ferry, and made it with 5 mins to spare! Phew!

Used the puncture repair kit a few times, on mine and mates bikes. Lifesaver!

Adjustable spanner when my pulley bolts came loose!
