| Slick 50 Engine treatment
I normally use HD Synth 3 in the engine but, I've had a bottle of Slick 50 4 stroke m/cycle treatment oil on the shelf for years and never got around to putting it in my BMW. Now the owner of a 2010 FLHTCU with 25,000kms on it already and was thinking of using it in the engine. Anybody else used this 'snake oil' product ? Thanks, |

| Re: Slick 50 Engine treatment
I've used it on loads of Jap bikes, but my experience with hydraulic tappets is not great (understatement). There is cleaning agent that removes all varnish / deposits from the entire engine. The idea is that the filter will catch them, BUT the results when the crap gets into the valve lifters are fatal.....on my V8, 4 valves were stuck open, trashing valves and pistons. ![]() If you think your oilways are clean, you should be OK, but for my money the potential benefits do not outweigh the risks ....your call of course.

| Re: Slick 50 Engine treatment Slick 50 is a reputable product and I've used it on a 949cc Moto Guzzi without problem, however I have been advised by others that the product is unsuitable for H-Ds due to the type of bearings used. So now I just stick to oil changes every 2,500 miles. ![]() |

I tried this on my sporty, big mistake. Clutch started slipping and a few weeks later puking oil out the breather. Maybe just a coincidence?
