Cleaning silencer 'heel' marks - any clues ?

Just took out my first passenger on my new FXTSC and despite my warnings not to let a foot touch the exhaust, you guessed it, the exhaust now has fairly large black mark of melted rubber/plastic from my passengers right heel.

I've tried to remove it with tar remover, meths, petrol and chrome cleaner. So far no luck and I cannot think what will melt the stuff at all.

Has anyone succeeded where I have so far failed ??

Thanks

Why do they do this?..I had some twat stand on the silencer to get on the bike once..the only way to stop this is to get a single seat..I have removed rubber marks with white spirit..or meths..still if you have tryed this.....

Try wiping as much of it off with a clean cloth when the pipe is hot {put your gloves on first!}, then when the pipes are cold the final bit should be able to be removed with a small amount of metal polish.

Thanks a lot guys, it's down to Waitrose and hello Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner and a nice warm exhaust system for me !!

Failing that I'll just have to claim for a new V&H system from my passenger, hmm now there's a good option !!

Cheers

WD40 is a good cleaner for tar spots so maybe it will help with rubber marks..??

Good luck

Thanks for all the replies guys. Mr Muscle and his wonderful oven cleaner did the trick. Exhaust as good as new again

Guess I'll need to find another excuse for a new V&H system !!!
