Tom Tom Rider

Hi, anyone had any trouble with T T Rider ? I have had one for nearly 2yrs? got it when they first came out, have to say its been good, but the bluetooth you can forget above 50mph coz the wind noise in your lid is too loud- used it once only!
I use the device mainly in the car just as visual ref. When used on the bike I have found for the last yr or so it becomes disconnectedfrom the backplate with vibration/wind force and switches over to battery power- and goes flat on you when you need it most !
The four gold pins go out of alignement with their respective gold contacts on the back of the device, I tried all sorts of tricks to squeeze them together inc clamping them with a stainless steel jubilee clip cut in half with the ends bent over, on further investigation found that the loss of contact was missalignement up and down as well as in and out . at the mo- I have fixed it buy filing down the groove in mount, that the rain seal on the edge of the Tom Tom sits in thus making the device sit lower in the mount and therefore making better contact with the power supply.
Only my view but I think the bike mount is pants ! over to you.

Re: Tom Tom Rider

I've had my TomTom Rider for a year or so now. Its proved reliable and I'm pleased with it. I did look at anti-vibration mounting systems but as yet havent pursued the matter.

Touratech do some - Touratech UK Webshop which may help with the problems you have

Re: Tom Tom Rider

The T T Rider you have has been discontinued because of all sorts of problems people have had with them, I would go back to the manufacturer and have a complain about it if I were you, they are about to launch a new version of the Ryder but you would be much better off with a Garmin Zumo!!
