Keeping tyres clean

I've got Avon Venom full width whitewall tyres, and they are so white that even the smallest bit of dirt makes them look old and scruffy very quickly. I can clean them up to look like new again ok, but this is getting to be a chore that I could do without everytime I go out.

Is there a clear tyre dressing that is suitable to put on just the white part, that will stop the dirt which is probably brake pad dust from getting into the grain of the white. Then I should be able to get a wet rag and just wipe it off instead of smudging it in, and having grey wall tyres.

I never had this problem with the Dunflop Ditch Finders, they must have been made differently.

Brian.

Re: Keeping tyres clean

There are ribbed white walls tyres and smooth white wall tyres.

But I have never heard of a spray that will let you wipe dust off.

Do what I do and just clean them with ciff when the bike gets a proper clean like every 3rd or 4th proper wash.

Thumbs up Re: Keeping tyres clean

Just had a really surreal thought...

You know those cheesy washing powder adverts where some Dale Winton type minces around asking housewives about their 'whites'?

"Would you swop two boxes of your usual powder for one box of Omo..?"

You know the sort of thing - well, you could have a 'bikers' version:-

'Does our tyre polish get your whitewalls nearly clean, or really clean..?'

It doesn't bear thinking about!!!

No offence dude, it just came to mind...

From someone who has very grey whitewalls...

Re: Keeping tyres clean

I was actually hoping someone would say there is a clear sealer that stops the dirt and grime from going into the white part.
The white bit on my tyres has been painted on in the factory...that's what it looks like anyway, and is very porous, it's very hard to get them looking right. I might take the white off altogether, it looks like it'll come of easily.
