floating disks

Anyone know where I might get some floating disks like the EBC ones, but with a black centre? EbC only do them with a polished or chrome finish and I want BLACK

Re: floating disks

Harrison Billet do floaters with black centers as do others.

Most of the big brake disc companies sell disc bobbin rebuild kits, so you could buy a plain or polished disc, remove the center and get it anodized at the local plaiting company.- (Or you can buy kits to do it yourself). Then just rebuild the disc.

Note this Is not an advert but advice.

I have got one similar to this. Very good with my billet caliper

Brake Disc Floating Front 2000up Harley Davidson 70061 on eBay, also Harley Davidson, Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Parts Accessories, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 17-Jul-08 10:45:57 BST)

One can of Hymbrol and a fine brush. Easy Black centre.

HOG mainiac that is so technical but what happens if you've got a shakey hand and smudge the paint???

Re: floating disks

Cheers for that info. I've emailed them asking for some prices for the Nightrain as I want to replace both at the same time. I'd rather get the middles powder coated though so I've asked them to supply the bobbins separately.

Note the piccy - my hands aren't even as steady as that

Re: floating disks

That was work in progress. Once finished I wiped around the edge with some spirits for a clean edge. My hand is not good enough to paint perfect circles.

I may try a beer first next time.

For my sins I'm an art teacher so I know how hard it is to paint or draw circles, I only put the comments on the piccy for Kib

Re: floating disks

Art teachers were the only ones I liked. I got an A in my GCSE art.

Re: floating disks

You probably had a nice teacher, not like me - I'm a right B*****d if they don't behave. That said I seem to get the maximum amount of students opting for art each as their first choice so something must be ok

Better get this back on track now as i want the damn floaters (discs that is) with black middles. If I have to do it myself then I'll be using masking tape - much easier
