Wheel wobble

Hi some advice please,

You all might know of my ride Softail custom with a 16" front wheel but on the odd occasion if traveling at speed I get a very concerning front wheel wobble. Its only once and a while this happens OK i am traveling at a high speed but usually its is straight as a die. Yesterday on the way back from Kernow on good road (duel carriageway) not to windy 90 its OK 95 and wow on the way to a tank slapper. I tried it three times over a period of 50 miles and it still happened. I have had this occur about 5 times before ? normally never a problem always straight as a die. I have gone over the front wheel, forks etc do not see anything untoward

Many thanks

Rob

Re: Wheel wobble

Check your tyre pressure front & back on my mrs' wide glide found that the back pressure was a bit down causing all manner of handling problems up front I know the dyna chasis is more dynamic than the softail set up but you never know!

Re: Wheel wobble

weird eh but it is probably tyre pressure as posted above. Unless your head stock has come loose.

Re: Wheel wobble

Have you lowered the back end at all?

If the wheel centre is lower than it was with a 21" wheel, you may find that the centre of gravity for the bike is now slightly forward of where it was originally.

Things like acceleration and braking where the inertia of either compress front and rear may have been effected.

Re: Wheel wobble

Just a thought, did it do it without the luggage strapped to the ass end?

Re: Wheel wobble

Now why didn't I think of that thanks guys that could be it, the weight on the back wheel and the lack on the front . All the gear is strapped behind the sissy bar. So all my kit is in fact on the back half of the rear wheel.
