Re: Roadking tyres

I run Avon Venoms on my 03 Road King. I put them on last October. They are a great improvement over the Dunlops.
I run 38 psi front and 45 psi rear as advised by the Avon tech man.

Brian.

Re: Roadking tyres

I run them and love them,
the one and only downside is they wear quickly

Re: Roadking tyres

just my two penneth/theory here so shoot me down in flames if needed???.....ive come my sporty after 24 years of sportsbikes......sporty came with the oe h-d dunlops.....already done 2000 miles in 4 weeks most in heavy rain/monsoons( thanks uk)..all with not one moment!!!!.....yes im riding it hard, mostly 2 up..so why all the bad comments on dunlops???...are the majority of owners who diss em, are they born agains???.cos alot of local harley lads ride dunlops....fitted a new front tyre today and yes stuck with h-d dunlops...150 miles tonight 2 up with no probs whatsoever!!!!...im sure after riding legally for 24 yrs...35 in total..thatim a good judge of tyres etc etc and honestly i cant fault em? maybe they are a new redesigned dunlop who knows...but im ok with em..and this is only my opinion, each to there own

Re: Roadking tyres

Me yes born....again....NOT! ........... riding since 1968 >>>See Here...LOL

Not had a break but not only do I find Metzler's, Continentals and Avon's better I find them cheaper for wide white walls.

They MAY be better now but I personally would not bother trying them out again if I had to buy a new set.

BUT I would wear them out using them if I bought a new bike like I did back in '03.

As they say all to their own and how they feel when riding and whatever you are comfortable with, that's my motto, but when asked the question I just say what I use and read the previous threads.

Re: Roadking tyres

Lee

The standard HD tyres are designed for American appliccian hence they are a relatively hard compound to give reasobnable wear when doing thousand of miles in hot conditions (110°F +) , not the wet twisties like in the UK. I switched from D/lop to Venoms and the difference in sure footedness is palpable! The d/lops would twitch on white lines and manholes which resulted in ridges in the saddle that remained long after I got off the bike.
