Gloves

I suffer a little from this white finger like condition and am looking to buy some real good gloves. By that I mean 100% waterproof and windproof. Over the years I've bought many claiming this, but have yet to find a pair that can actually live up to their claims. I don't mind paying up to about £100 if they can deliver what they promise. Any recommendations gentlemen?

Alternatively, I was wondering what these heated gloves are like. I don't want to attach them to my battery though, anyone had any experience with the ones that have their own battery in the wrist section of the glove?

Re: Gloves

The problem with any waterproof glove is they rely on a membrane of some sort to provide the waterproofness.

The constant flexing that you gove a glove just from gripping the bars means that this membrane breaks down over time, so they aren't waterproof forever. Then there is the issue of wind chill against the glove that transmits to the hand.

For that reason I've stayed away from mega-expensive gloves, I always found ski gloves good value and very warm.
If you have a real problem go heated, at the very least look for some of those Vulcan gloves, the ones with only 3 fingers so you have some fingers together, they keep each other warm them.

Best alternative, a fairing.

Re: Gloves

I bought a pair from here a couple of years ago.
Very comfortable.

Deerskin Leather Motorcycle Gloves - Fox Creek Leather

I don't know how weather-proof the gauntlet type are.
I bought the shorter summer pair.
Worth a read though.

Ah yes, I forgot about those that group several fingers together, I've heard they're good. It's hard to believe nowadays that they can't produce a membrane that can take the strain eh. A mate of my Dad's once leant me a pair of his overmitts as I was going on a long journey. They were a huge gauntlet thing and the top was a very thick plastic material. They certainly did the job so far as the weather was concerned, but you could hardly move your hands and you looked a right twat wearing them too! LOL. So I chose to get wet instead.

I like the look of them, very nice indeed. I did try wearing a pair of surgical gloves under my regular gloves. The weird thing was, that although they did keep my hands dry, they felt wet!! and bloody cold too. But that might work under a decent pair like these deerskin ones. Hmmm, worth a try maybe.

LOL, indeed mate. If they could just make them out of the same material as Harry Potter's invisible cloak we'd be sorted.

Re: Gloves

I second what Monkeybrain says. I wear a pair of ski gloves in the colder weather. Due to a mountain bike accident where I suffered a spinal injury any cold on my hands is very painful and I've never had a problem with my ski gloves.

Sounds good, what about water resistance?
