| Windsheid
I'm thinking of getting a detachable windsheild for a long ride later in the year. Will I be able to get one to fit with the Street Slammer bars fitted to my bike? Are they worth the investment, I mean, will I be able to cruise at 70mph for hours on end without my head being ripped off my shoulders? Or should I forget it and just go that bit slower where it's more comfortable? Gaz |

are they worth it? In my mind yes, if you ride long distant you will suffer fatigue above 60mph. You will find a screen will let you ride at higher speed and relaxed on long journeys. I ride up to a 1000mls aday without a screen this is almost impossible in my mind. Not everyone can get on with a screen so if you can try a bike with one on all the better, good luck john

I've got a QD on the RK and I just look over the top.It was on there when I got the bike and I'd never taken it off. I think I'd taken it for granted as last distance bike was BMW RS.The other weekend did over 500 miles and it was plastered but only one or two specs on the visor. Took the screen off and poped it in the bath to soak and went 3 miles into town. When I got back the visor needed a soak. ![]() A couple of tips. When you first fit it you'll think the bike doesn't handle,it does, but with the screen in your eye line it looks like it's leaned over further than it is,you soon get used to it. Don't bother with the lock kit, keep a spanner handy and just nip up the fixings at the top where the release wires are.A little tweak with the spanner, pull the wires and off it pops. |

hello i have the quick release screen on my sportster the difference riding is perfect the only problem is i tend to break the 70 mph speed limit as u cant feel the wind resistance as much but u arrive at ur destination so much more relaxed in my honest opinion. regards willie c |

Make sure you get one that suits your height (easier said than done, unless you have a mate with the same bike). I bought a compact detachable, which was fine with the stock seat. You want to be (just) looking over the top. After changing the seat, I was about an inch lower, and suddenly the top of the screen was directly in the line of sight, and riding in the rain was a nightmare. Had to change the blade for a low profile, which sorted the problem, but gave quite a bit more turbulence. Incidentally, I bought a detachable so i could take it off, but ride with it on all the time now. Only time it comes off is for cleaning...

A custom finish of dead bugs, mud and road grime is very fashionable in Perth....
