Help Please

Hi
Took delivery of my new ride 2005 Hellbound Hellion Chop yesterday. Fired it up no problem.

Tried again this morning and it just turns over but will not fire. Checked all the usual stuff- Sparks ok - fuel is getting through. Thougt is was flooded but not so. filled up with fresh petrol- fully charged the battery - no dice. Even called the AA out who went through it and went away flumoxed.

Checked with the previous owner- no hidden switches or disabling devices to worry about.

even tried squirting with easy start.

engine is as follows
Engine ---- OHV 45 deg V-Twin
Displacement ---- S&S 117"
Bore and Stroke ---- 4 1/8"x 4 3/8"
Compression Ratio ---- 9.2 to 1
Fuel System ---- S&S Super G Carburetor
Fuel Capacity ---- 3.5 Gals

anyone got any ideas what to try next?
thanks
in advance

Re: Help Please

Dont know if it's single or twin fire.

Has someone swapped the plug leads?

Had that done to me years ago, Still can't laugh about it

Re: Help Please

First off I am not familiar with your specific engine but it sounds like a pretty basic fault.

If you have a spark and fuel I would suspect it is flooded - easily done on Super G. What makes you decide it isn't flooded?? Normal test is hold throttle wide open (no choke) while cranking motor.

What are the plugs like? (colour, smell, etc)

I would defo not use easy start, but fuel stabilizer might help.

Re: Help Please

Hi and thanks

Plugs are brownish but dry - and they do smell of petrol but not heavy

did try the cranking and throttle thing but maybe for not long enough as the battery was giving up. also left the bike for a few hours while re charging the battery - would the flooding not have dissapated in that time?

cheers

mark
