Advice on removing standard silencers?

Hi looking for some advice, on removing original slipons from my 09 fatboy, what size are the small bolts,[ really small ] holding the originals, guess there AF, looks like i wont be able to get a socket in there, so guessing its poss Ring spanner job? access looks difficult esspecially with the solid wheel.
Are they likely to be loctited in, better to remove the top silencer or bottom one first?
just going to bolt some slipons in place, is it recommended to put anysort of sealer where the new pipe clamps to excisting?
just wondering if those original bolts are gonna be a pain to get out
will it all go pearshaped
any advice appreciated

Re: Advice on removing standard silencers?

Suggest you invest in a Repair Manual for your bike.
Worth its weight in gold. Even though it's expensive, it's a lot cheaper than getting something wrong.
Can't speak for your '09, but on earlier models there is a correct order in taking the bolts off, and the recommended way was to take both mufflers off together.
Personally, I've always found it easier to do them one by one, as you may have to twist them to get them off. No sealer on reassembly, but high temperature anti-seize grease won't go wrong.

Spanner size might be 3/8" or 7/16" A/F?

Invest in some quality tools too....

Re: Advice on removing standard silencers?

Thank you Banquo, it looks a real straightforward job, but then i remember i was changing the oil on a buell i had, first oil change from new, what a hell of a job to get the screws out of the botton chin spoiler had loctite on them, torx head, just mashed up in the end, then the Oil filter would not budge, think when it was built they never oiled the Oring and it was solid on the mounting, got it off in the end but it was totally Mangled, all in all, a simple job went horribly wrong.
