Question Mikuni HSR 42-18 Easy kit

I have the H-D standard CV carbed 2003 Road King, it had a stage one done at the dealers when I bought it and still has the SE Slash Cuts fitted.

I have just bought this kit with the backing plate.
Mikuni HSR 42-18

I'm asking anyone out there that has experience of this conversion if what they say about it is true, and would you recommend I do anything else to this area while I'm at it.
I'm thinking alternate tuning settings may be required because of the non standard cams and gear drive I have fitted.

Thanks in anticipation......

Cool Re: Mikuni HSR 42-18 Easy kit

BaZa,

I bought a similar Mikuni kit for my 89 inch Evo. I didn't get very far when it transmogrified into an S&S Super G with a 107 inch attached
So be warned!

Re: Mikuni HSR 42-18 Easy kit

Bolt it on and see. 9 out of 10 times these carbs run just fine out of the box on most engines. If anything out of the box they run a little rich which might not be a bad thing with some cam work.

There is only really one way to find out.

Enjoy!

Re: Mikuni HSR 42-18 Easy kit

I don't ever intend to increase the engine size, just want to know what people think of the kit?

Thanks Phil that sounds promising.

Fitted it, worked straight from the box. Well worth the cost and effort.

Re: Mikuni HSR 42-18 Easy kit

I have personal experience of fitting 2.

My 2002 springer is stock, other than SE mufflers. Fitted Mikuni about 5 years ago - bags more grunt low down, no more sneezing, or need for fuel stabilizer.

Sickboy's 2001 Night train, has 95" bore, SE cams, V&H short shots, and forward facing large pleated air filter. It seriously flies at all revs (dopn't tell him I said that tho ).

You won't regret it mate..............

Re: Mikuni HSR 42-18 Easy kit

Baz, I had one fitted to my Wide Glide (1450) because I was sick of carb-icing - it's cold here you know!

It was certainly worth doing with no further carb icing problems and a better throttle response too. I did notice a small increase in fuel consumption but as we are all filthy rich up here it didn't matter. I only mention it because I know you're on a pension.
