Re: Road King colour change

One of the problems you need to overcome is that the paint schemes , especially on the tank, were usually designed to fit in with whatever badging or decal was in play at the time. You could do worse than integrate the cloisonné emblem from your 100th into a more unique scheme? I don't think you lose much by overpainting the 100th colour scheme. It must have been their bigest year, and if you look around the club, it's one of the most common years of the T/C.

Think of this one in red instead of blue...

This might be close to what you're looking for.

Re: Road King colour change

Thanks everyone for taking the time to find and post these pictures for me. They really are appreciated. The wheels in my head are turning now, I've got two potential colour layouts that I like a lot, which are variations of several of these bikes. I really need another bike so I can have both.

Whatever happens, I'll incorporate my 100th tank badges...I like them. They are the first thing I polish when I clean her up.

I need to start paying attention now to other bikes that have been custom painted and start talking to the owners if I like the finish so I can select my painter to do the job when the time comes. As a whole, I'm not very impressed with the way my bike was made, a lot of corners were cut during manufacture, BUT I can't fault the paintwork at all. It's the best part of the bike..apart from the colour. The factory pulled all the stops out, and made a first class job of painting it. Whoever repaints it, must get a finish equal to or better than what I have now. I've been over every square inch of my bike and there isn't a paint blemish anywhere.

What shade of red will I end up with, and will it be a solid colour or a pearl.... I don't know yet, I'll decide that later after I've looked at every bike and car finished in red that I can find.

Thanks again.....

Brian.

How about this, seen in Shanghai today....

Shame they put the bars on backwards though.

Keith baker has a reputation for turning out some of the best paint jobs in the industry, not cheap, and expect to wait, but thats what comes if you want the best....check out the website Brian, you may get some further ideas there.
Road king tanks/fenders come up regular on fleabay, I'd be looking at getting those sprayed up, keeping the original anniversary set for future use.
