The National rally

Well i would just like to take this opportunity to give a brief outline as to whats happening at the national and how we got roped into holding the rally at Kirkby Lonsdale lol as well as a brief history of the Lakes region.
Well the Lakes region was started by Greg and Jaze [ex reps]and a few others in 93 if memory serves me right after 5 Lakes rallies at differant locations we started using Kirkby Lonsdale ,now the Lakes rallies have always been very well suported over the years but the region did start to die off a little on club night's ,both Greg and Jaze found it hard due to work and family commitments to carry on as reps so decided to step down, an AGM was held and me and Cliff got elected as rep and assistant rep, 3 years ago.We decided early on that if something's not broke[rally wise] then dont fuck with it , maybe just gently tweak it.We started doing rideout 's bowling nights trips to rallies in other countries and now we're getting 15 to 20 people on club nights.
Well as a region we disscussed how to turn the Lakes rally into something really special for the 60th anniversary ,well as ive said before we've been very sucessful over the years and we;ve been left fincially ok ,so i came up with the idea of buying a new bike and raffeling it off after resusiting our lot i pointed out that it would be a great way of giving something back to our members who have supported our rally over the years[hence the tickets for sporty were only available at last years rally to members] as well as showing to non members that the riders club dont just have great rallies but great prizes .
Now Sue M asked me if the Lakes region could hold the National for 2009 and could i put a plan together as the national at Oswestry seemed to be going down hill.Well the first thing i thought yes Kirkby Lonsdale is a perfect site for the national ,its got everything a great location, its not far from the ferry ports of Newcastle and Hull,its[inbetween the Lake District national park and the yorkshire dales national park]a great town ,great pubs ,great resturants,plenty of accomodation [the days of everybody camping in my opinion are over people are older and expect more and if you can offer a choice its the way forward] and a great site with plenty of space to expand for the national and the town love us.2nd thought how do we promote the rally and sell it to our members as a national venue,simple lets make a DVD of the town and its facilities after all a picture tells a thousand words so i asked Cliff to bring along his cam corder and we filmed the town and the rugby club site and printed some fact sheets so we could present them to the reps at the reps meeting.Now roger liked the idea of the site being filmed and asked if we would mind if they copied the idea for the Walesby presentation ,we of course said no problem as we wanted what was best for the club and what the reps thought was best for the club was ok with the Lakes mob.Well we did our presentation at the reps meeting ,the one thing we didn't mention was the New Sporty [Roger was the only commitee member who knew]as we wanted the reps to pick what they thought was the best site without the Sporty inflencing people's judgement and as you all know Walesby was picked over the Lakes for the 60th and what a great sucess it was ,so obviously everthing worked out well.
Now Kev [mr pres]asked us if we would do the 2010 rally even though in his own words "it might be a poision chalice,following the 60th"well we at the Lakes like a challengeand we're now in the hot seat so to speak.
Well we wanted to do the New Harley raffle again and after upgrading our proposal and showing the commitee our other ideas and showing our costings the commitee voted the Lakes rally to be upgraded to National status,well as a 2nd prize for the raffle i thought what about a trip to Daytona ,well i mentioned the idea to our lot and they were up for the idea after i resusitated them again[we at the Lakes region are paying for this from our Tshirt sales ]well i was speaking to David Kiberd [kib] products officer who offered us accomodation [at his appartment just off main]for Bikeoctoberfest in Daytona ,i would also like to take this opportunity to than David and Lesley for all their hard work in sorting out the plane tickets etc [theres a lot of good people in this club],so 2nd prize is 2 tickets to biketoberfest from Gatwick incluiding a car and accomodation now 3rd prize is 2 tickets for the T'Centrun Rally sailng from Newcastle including cabin,i would also like to thank Big Andre[T'Centrum pres and all their members] who have kindly donated 2 free tickets for their rally to go with the ferry tickets
Pre book rally tickets will be available online very soon also pre book tickets will be available at the AGM oh if you buy your pre book tickts at the AGM you save to the club £1.18 as that what it costs the club through pay pal

non members £30
Raffle tickets for the 3 main raffle prizes [draw sat night]cost £5 each,if you pre book and by a raffle ticket you get 1 free raffle ticket
Raffle tickets are available to everybody who attends the rally
Roger is sorting out the tickets.
We are going to be asking you the other regions if you would like to help out with sponsorship at the rally.
If you have any ideas that you might think help improve the rally let me or Cliff or any of the other Lakes mob know and we will do our best to implement them
sorry its a bit long winded but were looking forward to seeing you all and making this years national a great sucess.
Just as a footnote and i'am gonna embarress the guy now ,but last year after losing the battle of the rallies lol we put 5 tickets into a hat from the commitee and 10 name from the region reps list for a free ticket now Buff won a ticket and at our rally still wanted to pay to come in to show support for our rally,what a top guy antyay i refused i just said if you feel that wat Buff buy yourself some raffle tickets and he did what a star

Hope they have made the gents public lavvy bigger....had tae use the wummins last time.....could have ended in a big riddie....wiz in there for ages until they 2 weemin decided they wur done bletherin an went oan ther way

Rubber bands round the bottom of your waterproofs are the answer mate, then just snip the bands as you pass the river on your way back to the tent at the end of the night .

No worries with the loo's ,we've got 3 trailer blocks of loo's each block contains 4 traps for the ladies and 3 traps for the gents[all flushing] plus a urinal oh and we've also got a 5 man urinal as well plus 3 porta loo's for arround the campsites[so its true about you using the ladies loo Stuarty,did you sit down to pee?]plus the rugby club loo's as well
