| Re: Ride to the wall 11th October 2008: Support all our fallen troops. Great run, there was so many there i only caught site of two riders club members. Damn shame the day was spoiled for some, two accidents on route, hope none of our club were involved. The video was taken by a V.R.A. member. YouTube - Ride To The Wall October 2008

| Re: Ride to the wall 11th October 2008: Support all our fallen troops. Four of us rode down from Stoke and we met up with some of the lads from the Black Country on the way. Thanks to Nene Valley HOG for excellent organisation both before and on the day. A very memorable day for all sorts of reasons, I felt very privileged to be enjoying the freedom that so many have given their lives for. I agree with the comments that others have made, hope the club will be able to lay a wreath next year.

| Re: Ride to the wall 11th October 2008: Support all our fallen troops. Devon John and Colin Wood, Sorry I missed you guys on the day, there were just so many groups and individuals it was all but impossible, here`s to next year... It was a privilege to be part of it,well done to all the organisers, a worthwhile cause if ever there was one... It was good to see the public on the bridges and road sides showing their support as well. Mike. |

No worries catch you another time Mike.I echo the sentiments above. A meeting point for the riders club would be a good idea. I did suggest the National bike museum before the ride because it’s only 10 mins away from the services. However this meant some riders had to drive past the start, only to turn round and go back. If the start is at the services again, I guess it would not be too hard to arrange an area for the riders club. The suggestion above to liaise with the organisers sounds a good one. We arranged a last minute meet at Hopwood services, meeting up with Warbird, Devon John, Ulysses and other members. This could be another idea, ie meeting points and times along the main routes to the start point. Seems the British Legion riders did exactly this. If it is run next year it will be bigger for certain. Not sure how you riders at the front managed but those of us at the back, possibly due to the delay of the accident, ended up in bit of a ripple effect, 70mph to keep up, then down to a flat stop. A military mate of mine thinks it was a bloody good idea, seems they have a current saying “The military is at war, the civilians are at peace”.

| Re: Ride to the wall 11th October 2008: Support all our fallen troops. My suggestion would be that we, as a club, don't need to be seen, as a club, to be doing our own thing as in having a seperate meeting point to all get together en mass for a ride in to the servicies putting on a show, the event is not about that. We get there, the same as we did yesterday, the various regions who did have members attending worked out our own meeting points along the way which worked (as far as I know) fine, all we need is a club flag/standard & someone (el Pres or Madam Chairman?) to lay a wreath! It's not about clubs, It's about Bikers supporting the troops. We can all have great ideas while we still have the emotion of the day within us but. in the cold light of day there are meeting points already out there & there is also a good organisation also out there so let's just go with the flow & not try to re invent the wheel, all we need is a club flag & a Wreath. waddya think??

| Re: Ride to the wall 11th October 2008: Support all our fallen troops. The meeting point at Hopwood was emailed to me by The Royal British Legion Riders Group (of which I'm also a member) which is were we did our registration & paid our fivers to save time later which worked out well.

| Re: Ride to the wall 11th October 2008: Support all our fallen troops. thats a good point warbird .i think if we ride as one club it shows solidarity and comradeship and being members of a team points instilled into me in the navy. i myself dont think of it as club trying to outdo club. just would be nice to see. in the end as long as we attend thats the important think ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Re: Ride to the wall 11th October 2008: Support all our fallen troops. Not looking to reinvent the wheel, I just think it would have been good if there was a chance to identify and meet up with other members of the club. Although it looks as if all those that did not meet up with other club members found new friends in other clubs, a fine show of comradeship in itself.
