Re: HDRCGB at RTTW 2009

I'm riding down Fri night, stopping at the Travelodge at Tamworth svcs (M42 J10 with A5) overnight, then just a short ride to Drayton Manor from there on the Sat. morning. If there is to be a Club meeting/rallying point at Drayton Manor, I'll be there. I'm all registered, got me 2009 bar, sticker, the lot!
I know the start time for assembly at Drayton is 7.00am. Is there an assembly time for Club members wishing to assemble at the Club point?

Cheers
FBB

Re: HDRCGB at RTTW 2009

A short update on progress, now I'm back from t'Centrum...

  • Alan fxrt (Central Mercia) is helping out a lot on the "doing" front as a local to the event. He got Drayton Manor to agree no charge for the Club tent - thanks Alan
  • Several others have offered to do whatever is necessary, for which I am grateful and will post what is still needed to be done
  • I still have items to source and get them delivered, so I may be asking for help on some of these...see below for initial list
  • I have ordered a poppy wreath to be presented as a Club remembrance, agreed with the Committee. If anyone wishes to get their own wreath, the Royal British Legion have their own factory and can be contacted on 01622-717172, there is still time...just
  • There will be refreshments and food available from 7am (provided by Drayton Manor). The HDRCGB meeting tent will have tea, coffee available for a 50p donation Providing I can get a generator organised...see below)
  • There is a village located 10-20 minutes walk away from Drayton Manor with pubs, restaurants, garage etc for those camping Friday and/or Saturday
What is still needed ? Who can help ?

Since I am on the bike, I am not able to carry a lot and need your help. For anyone living locally, are taking a vehicle as well as bike or simply don't mind chipping in, we need to sort out...
  1. A generator (min 3kW) to run the tea urn, lights etc
  2. A tea-urn, water boiler
  3. Lights suitable for the Club tent (run off generator)
  4. Table(s)
  5. Chair(s)
  6. Cakes (to be sold for a donation and any profit goes to RTTW)
  7. Volunteers to man the tent when those who are on the ride depart (need to make sure all this stuff people will lend us does'nt get nicked)
I realise its a big ask but it means maybe friends who are not riding getting involved and taking their cars to Drayton Manor and giving up a few hours to support RTTW and the memorial.

Again, any offers on here please or pm me.

I'll post updates every 2 or 3 days.

Thanks

Re: HDRCGB at RTTW 2009

I rx this E from RTTW yesterday, it may help with planning...........

Thank you for pre registering for RTTW. If you have been checking the website you'll see that over 2100 other people have also. That's more than came altogether in 2008.
If you registered last year you may remember that I sent out these updates before the event to keep you informed. Should you not wish to receive these (I'll probably only do 2 more) then just e mail me back and I'll remove you from my database. We do not share your details with anyone else as we only use them to post your merchandise or contact you if we have a query.
The Days Timings

Registration / Merchandise sales at the start point ,Drayton Manor, opens at 08:00.(For those that asked the question, there are toilets in the Coach Park as well as the camping area )
Form up ready to depart - 10:30 .
Leave Drayton manor - 11:00
Service at the Arboretum - 13:30
Fly past - 13:55
If you cannot stay for the service please do not park in the Arboretum. There are other designated parking areas outside.
T Shirts

Just a reminder that these are now on order and no further orders can be taken . They are due to be posted around 28th September
Meeting up points

If you are planning to travel to Drayton Manor in a group and wish to announce it for others to join please post the details and timings on the Forum under 'Meeting up Points '. I am aware that a few posts have been added but this will make it easier for others to view in one place . Most important info is Start Locations, any stops on the way plus timings
On the Ride

Please , Ride with Respect – Not to impress . Please keep to a 40mph limit and do not overtake . The ride will be broken up into sections but the route is fully marshalled so you cannot get lost . Splitting up the ride helps with parking at the Arboretum as it should help prevent jams and waiting there.
If you want to ride with your friends , please arrive with them or arrange to meet up before entering Drayton Manor
Post Event function

There will be an organised Post Event function that everyone is welcome to attend . More details will be posted on the next update
Flag Bearers

Flag bearers will be directed at the Registration point. Bottom gate. They will form up just outside the main parking area.
Breakfast at Drayton Manor

Prices and selection for this have been added to the website under 'Camping and Assembly'
American V

Not sure if you get this excellent publication but they did a write up on RTTW in 2008. I'll add a link to it from the RTTW website when I add this to the website

Ride safe

Dave..........

See you all there
