Re: HDRCGB at RTTW 2009

The sun shone and those who had gathered to pay their respects enjoyed the sunshine in the gardens surrounding the National Memorial Arboretum.

What a fitting memorial the Arboretum is.

Dont know just yet how many attended but there was a HUGE number. The ride through the local towns from Drayton Manor to the memorial ws also very special. The towns people came out to wave, take photographs and shoot video of the hundreds of bikes of all shape and sizes.

I didnt stay for the service but did hear the opening address of the speaker and the bugle sounding the Last Post. There is something very haunting about that tune. In todays setting it was even more so.

Well done to all who attended.

They said there was over 4000,it was full up and they were parking out on the road.
I think one of the most moving things for me was the large area of blank wall just waiting for names. Please God it's not filled in my lifetime and a long time after.

Re: HDRCGB at RTTW 2009

Genuinely surprised at the numbers there and the spectators.

A lovely day.

The marshals were top drawer, the organisation was first class and one day I am going to have full-on, dirty-sex with a Spitfire.

Shame some people can't ride in a large group or park their bikes.

Looked a sizeable crowd: 4,000+ ?

Must make a note not to buy that dvd.

Me, the missus and Fatty were on the side just before you got onto the dual carriage way. 2 Hrs it took for you all to go past got some great pics and video well done all and would loved to have been with you but was on call.
It was also the first time the other half had been on the bike and loved every moment of it all.

Re: HDRCGB at RTTW 2009

you got a good feeling at this event every one was friendly and welcoming this is what its all about riding bikes and doing some good in the process.
well what can you say about are club members under the guidance of Geoff(Ulysses)
and muddy paws and Alan from the Central Mercia region plus are faithful Charlie Harley they really showed how good a club we have, the hospitality tent worked brilliantly and yes it got are club a meeting point.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK
i myself had a breakdown on the way home on the MT350, well not really a breakdown
the chain broke on the M5 never had this happen before so all you who say that chains are better well i,m not convinced!!!
still it was a good weekend and was great to meet up with old and new
friends

Re: HDRCGB at RTTW 2009

This was the first event I'd since joining and I loved every minute! Great people and great organisation!!

I hear 5,000 bikes!(?). Ace stuff! I can't see 5000 cars doing it! Great effort everyone but hats off to the Jocks!! What a show guys!!

It was good to hear the Col. say how much it boosts the troops to know they are supported!

Shame we weren't on the news, instead we got more of Gordo's sight problems. Maybe that's why he can't see how much ordinary people do care about the boys & girls in Afganistan and elsewhere!
