| Worth a Look
As we all know most of our region is well away from anyone that has specific Harley knowledge and experience. I always take my bike for it's MOT to Park Road Garage, Swarthmoor. They are very biker friendly, I think they are bikers or have been bikers, and properly understand how we feel about our bikes and the care we expect them to be handled with, which is refreshing as I find most "Bike only" garages are not, amazingly! I was there a few days ago getting this years MOT and the place has been transformed. They have spent absolutely mega bucks on the workshop and state of the art equipment and are still aquiring more i.e. A special bike lift that allows them to drop the front or rear of the lift for access when removing wheels etc from bikes that have very low fenders (like Harley's rear fenders). If you pop in and have a craic with them, they are more than happy to give you the guided tour (as they did for me) explaining all the kit they have and the equipment on order. They have begun to target Harley's specifically and that has been part of their thought pattern when deciding which kit to buy. He tells me that they have done a few Harley's servicing of late and are hoping to tempt more their way. I haven't had any servicing or major stuff done their yet, but they have done electrical repairs and fitted new rear tyres for me and I am very impressed with their care and attention as I said earlier and the tensioning of the beltdrive was spot on too. What was particularly interesting to me was to hear the following. They have associated themselves with the "Just Harley's" company. As "Just Harley's" do not see them as a direct competitor, they are not only supplying them with parts but offering them Technical advice etc as and when required. They are also Peugeot dealers now (Motor Scooters etc) and have a pretty good selection on mopeds and 125cc bikes in their new showroom upstairs, along with a few other brands. Personally I think they are well worth a try and are clearly making a specific effort to target Harley's. They've been servicing and repairing motorbikes for years by the way, so they are not new to bikes, far from it in fact. It's just the Harley market that is new to them and they are clearly making an effort to accomodate Harley's specifically. I guess they will not maintain that interest forever if they don't see a return on their investment, but if people start showing an interest it can only get better for us local Harley owners. Pop in and have a craic with them, ask them about parts and their equipment, maybe get your MOT done there or get your next tyre fitted there to get a taste of how they work, you just might be impressed as I was. If you're not, then no big deal, nothing lost. By the way, I have no association or interest in this garage, just in case the cynics amongst you were wondering, lol, just thought this might be useful and of interest to several in our region.

| Re: Worth a Look Ya know what, I was thinking of asking them about that when I was there, but then it occured to me that if they have, who better to sell your talents to them better than you yourself. They are definately looking to tempt the Harley's in, bet there are no other bike mechanics currently employed in this area that have your knowledge of Harleys, in addition to your oodles of years of experience on everything in the Bike world. Make some excuse to pop in and let it be known you're available mate. Gotta be worth a punt. It would probably start something like this "Alright mate, you've got a nice set up here, I'm just back from working in the Isle of Man blah, blah, blah................, I believe you're trying to get into Harley's?.......Well it just so happens that I not only ride one, but...blah, blah,.........." By the way, they don't do MOT's on Saturday's I've noticed, so that makes me think as their bike mechanic is one of the owners (I think!), he doesn't like to work Saturdays. That might just be the foot in the door you need, offer them yourself part-time if there's no full time hours available or even do a week for FREE??? maybe, just to show them what your capable of. What have you got to lose Bud? Oh and don't forget to mention that you're a fully qualified Car mechanic too of course! |

| Re: Worth a Look Nowt to lose mate, Good Luck. Tell them you're a member of the Harley club and how that could possibly bring other members through the door too, you know it would definately bring all my business their way for one. Prettty sure others would follow too. Who better to work on your Harley than another Harley owner? |
