Hi thought I would just post an introduction. I have just bought my first Harley (FatBob) thanks to BigEdd (my brother in law) but been into bikes since my first one a BSA Bantam in 1970 and not been without a bike much since then. Never thought I would ever own a Harley, didn't really have any thought toward owning one either, until that fateful day. I went down to Preston Harley with Big Edd, not paying much attention to the bikes there. We were there for hours, and so bored I started looking... like ya do! Then I started asking how much for my old Harley wannabee (H*nda Ace) ;o) how much finance was... and before you know it I am hooked on a low mileage 2007 StreetBob... cool as, Denim black. Tell the Mr's when I get back home, expecting the don't be stoopid we need a new this and that before any Bike. But No she said just get it, went back down and they had sold the 2 they had ;o( major bummer. So I then looked at the new bikes.. and the rest is history. I don't get much recognition on the road from other Harley riders, had more on me H*nda to be honest.. never even had one person look at it at the Kirby Stephen Harley Run.... so not sure it is much respected in Harley circles... but I love it and cant get enough of it. I havent joined the HDRC (lake District) yet, to much expense at the Mo, but I do intend to once I get back on an even keel. I would love to go out on a run or two with Just Harley's so hope I get invited even though I aint a paid up member yet. I Live in Lindal and know BigEdd, Snowy and Greg.. thats it. Sorry for long intro... just thought I should break the ice. Cheers Guys! Last edited by Holmsey; 19-08-2009 at 11:37 PM. |

Welcome to the forum and especially welcome to Harley world. Have no fear about whether your Fatbob is appreciated by other Harley riders, it certainly will be, there are very few Harley's that aren't! LOL. Personally, the Fatbob is one of my absolute favourites. You will certainly get invited and be made most welcome on any of our ride-outs and at our monthly meetings whether you're a member or not. Besides the fact that Big Edd will bring you along, you will also find our regional reps, Hippy and Harleyfatboy7 will throw out a warm welcome to you and you will see details on here form time to time about ride-outs. I believe Big Edd has now got himself a Roadking, so I look forward to seeing him and it soon too. So as I said, have no fears about being appreciated by others/us or about being invited on ride-outs. I've had Jap bikes all my life until 6yrs ago and I have to say, moving over to a Harley was the best move I ever made and I too thought I'd never end up on Harley's, wish I'd done it sooner, I'm sure you wont regret it.

Hi Holmsey, Heard through the grape vine that the "guy from the jeweller's" had got a Harley so welcome aboard, look forward to seeing you out on runs and maybe we can generate a little intrest in the custom car/bike cross over events that are starting to spring up. A bunch of us went through to Masham earlier in the summer when there was a Hotrod meet there. May put you in a bit of a dilemma over which vehicle to take but hey aint life a bitch. Cheers Shed |

Thanks for the welcome guys much appreciated. Always loved bikes and Hot Rods (cars) think they are in your blood no escaping them. Hence the Harley I guess last chance before I get to old, do my last payment when I am 60..whoooo scarey ;o) Didn't know about any Hot Rod meet at Masham. For those wondering why Hot Rod is mentioned, I own a 1955 F100 Pick-up, not strictly a Hot Rod (to new, gets complicated) more classed as a Custom Truck in the scene, though it is Hot Rod'ed. I run a web site called UK Hot Rods: News, tech, chat, email group for hot rods, street rods and kustoms UK Hot Rods but love my bikes as much, maybe love the Harley more, certainly gives me a buzz when riding it. Thought I would try and get into the Harley scene a bit, as I think they are a bike with soul. My apologies for talking Cars on a bike forum. Last edited by Holmsey; 20-08-2009 at 11:34 PM. |

Holmseys web site is well worth a look I look at it often. I find the run reports and the old pics fascinating. Cheers
