Kendal Torchlight Festival

Hi there you Harley folks. Hope you don't mind this intrusion.

Some of you may remember me from the talk about the Boundary500 group I gave at one of your meetings earlier in the year. You'll certainly have remembered Lilian Barton who was there too.

I've been asked by the Air Ambulance service to see if I can get as many motorcyclists to take part in the torchlight procession with them as I can. It's on friday the 11th (not much notice, I agree) The idea is to meet at Kendal Leisure centre between 5:30- 6:00 for a briefing. After that we proceed at slow pace the wrong way round the one way system using pillion passengers to collect from the spectators and revellers. You don't need a passenger but if you can bring one, good.

The GNAAS are providing super sized GNAAS T shirts to wear over our leathers and we get to keep them after. I've got some low voltage christmas tree lights that I'm going to festoon my bike with, but it's not necessary for all bikes.

I appreciate that at this short notice, many will have other plans or can't make it, but even if only two or three Harleys can attend, the procession will be the better for it. The more the better.

This is good high profile positive press for Bikers and we stand to raise a lot of money for the GNAAS. Hope some of you can be there.

Best wishes.

Peter T

Don't want to put a damper on it but coins being thrown and custom paint jobs are bad news!

That's a good point but all the collecting should be done by volunteers (who may be your pillions) who will walk between the bikes and spectators with buckets. The idea is that they will be giving sweets to the kids and collecting at the same time. The bikes should be two abreast down the centre so there should be a rasonable gap for most of the way.

There may be mischief makers? dunno.

You could always wrap your tank in a fleece or leather top if you're worried? wrap a GNAAS T shirt round it?

No compulsion to participate though, just consider it

Thumbs up Re: Kendal Torchlight Festival

We have been asked with Boundary 500 to lead the Kendal Torchlight Parade on the 11th September!

For the ride we have 30 donation buckets for Great North Air Ambulance (Cumbria, Borders, Northumberland, Co Durham) a very worthwhile cause!

Meeting points as follows

Friday 11th September
5pm M6 Tickled Trout Services
5.30pm M6 J35 Truckhaven Services
6pm Kendal Leisure Centre (Crooklands road into Kendal from M6 J36)

We'd love to see loads of harleys leading the show for the evening, and hope you can all help!!!

Gordon

PS pillions required for buckets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets not get shown up by other makes of motorcycle!

LOL, that was exactly my thought. Thought I was just being a soft git, so never mentioned it.

Might be a struggle for those of us with mens clutches and no mamby pamby clutch lighteners and apparently i have not mastered the left hand exercise technique as so many people take great delight in demonstrating it to me

Errm, maybe we shouldn't question how they got such good muscles in their left hand eh!
